Imagine how it felt last night to be in the Giants locker room?
Smiles. Cheering. Champagne. What a picture.
I guess it helped to be an underdog. They had a whole lot of energy to harness that helped to move that team towards a common goal: The World Championship!
So why didn't the Patriots win? The truth is, their time ran out.
Sure, the Giants defense fought a great game. Sure, Eli had that fantastic save and hit Burress in the endzone with 35 seconds left. With one second left, the Patriots headed toward the tunnel and left Eli to kneel. And when the clock ticked to zero, the clock ruled the game.
Like the Giants yesterdy, time is on our side in January but works against us in December. If we strive for an annual production goal, we need to watch it every day. Seven days make a week, weeks make months, months make our year.
Football season is over. It's the first Monday in February. Let's get going.

The definition of leadership is the ability to move a group of people toward a common goal. I have enjoyed the privilege of leadership for more than 35 years. I must confess, however, that early on, my intentions were only self-serving.
I was the boss; I used my position power to get where I wanted and I was a bully. This leadership technique made people move away from me instead of with me. When we did reach a goal, it was always hard to rally the team towards the next one. It was lonely and exhausting.
I began to study successful leaders and their methods. My pursuit of true leadership became relentless. Piles of books describing transformational leaders provided me with so many "aha!" moments that I was excited to try new things.
With a new focus on individual achievement, we were able to celebrate every success, not just one, and reach our goal. It was a great way to work. We worked hard and we were satisfied. When it goes the right way, you know it.
I still try to do - and say - the right things (instead of only doing things right). As a coach, I want to take the high road but I sometimes miss the turn. This blog is an attempt to share my right steps and my missteps along with observations about the way that I see things work.
These periodic anecdotes are not meant to be instructional. They are indulgent musings and I welcome your comments.
